Baberich Abendan

Baberich is a rising senior studying political science and management studies at St. Olaf College. He recently completed an exchange program at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK, finishing a number of politics and business management course. He was an AmeriCorps intern at the Greater Chicago Food Depository where he found his interest in the non-profit and desire to help others. He is currently a part of the Social Entrepreneurship Scholars program’s collaboration with Daily Work hoping to gain more knowledge and experience in non-profit management.

Hali Ali
Case Management Intern (651) 204-3043

Hali Ali has a passion for helping people, especially vulnerable women and children. She emigrated from Somalia to Kenya where she stayed at the Dadaab Refugee camp and was trained to be an advocate for other refugees struggling in the camp. Hali worked with CARE International Kenya as a social service outreach worker at Dadab. She was later promoted to providing social service assistance for Vulnerable Women and Children (VWC). She eventually was resettled in the United States Hali decided where she is currently working to complete her Bachelor of Social Work. She also attends ESL classes to practice her English accent. She has worked at nonprofit agencies in Minnesota which created her interest in interning at Daily Work, where she looks forward to helping job seekers meet their needs.

Becky Billings
Communications Volunteer (651) 204-3043

Becky Billings is an experienced digital marketer, providing online advertising for companies through positions at agencies and manufacturers. She currently works for Proto Labs as a Search Engine Marketing Specialist. With Master’s Degrees in Philosophy and English, she’s also been an English and Philosophy instructor in South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota over the years with areas of expertise in editing, copywriting, training, social media and communications. She loves the mission of Daily Work, as she has fought the unemployment battle herself and knows the particular struggles job seekers face on their career journeys.

Gretchen Guenter

Gretchen was born and raised in Minnesota. She earned her bachelors in education from Pacific Lutheran University, Washington and a masters in education from the University of Minnesota. Gretchen has been a teacher and worked with teacher candidates. The vision of Daily Work has inspired her to volunteer and she is excited about working with people as they explore new job possibilities. In her free time Gretchen loves to walk, bike and spend time with her family.

Sarah Jackson

Sarah is currently obtaining her Masters in Social Work from St. Catherine University and the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Originally attaining her undergraduate degree in Religious Studies from Edgewood College in Madison, WI, Sarah learned the beauty in all belief systems and walks of life. Hearing the story of every individual journey has the power to humanize and connects us. Sarah is excited to participate as an intern for Daily Work this summer; assisting individuals make valuable steps within their own lives. After graduating next May, Sarah hopes to work in a clinical setting as a therapist. In her free time, Sarah enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time in the beautiful greenery outside.

David Krahn

David Krahn. Dave worked for a total of over 30 years for the DuPont and 3M Companies; most of his experience involved pharmaceutical R&D. He has extensive organization and project management experience. Dave is a graduate of St. Olaf College (BA) and the University of Wisconsin - Madison (PhD). Until 2017, he chaired the Daily Work Board of Directors for most years since it became a nonprofit in 2006.

Jana Martin

Jana Martin joins Daily Work as a volunteer after spending ten years as teacher in Wisconsin and Connecticut followed by twenty-five years as a corporate tax accountant in Minnesota. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her accounting certification from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Jana has enjoyed volunteering as a literacy teacher for adults throughout her working career and now is looking forward to expanding that volunteering to Daily Work.

Toni Muellner
Daily Work Job Club Advisor (651) 204-3043

Toni is currently the Ambulatory Manager at Health East Surgery and brings over 20 years of hiring experience to Daily Work. Toni is eager to share her experience interviewing and reviewing resumes with job seekers, especially through Job Club at Daily Work. She is also a part-time student, attending Metropolitan State University in the College of Individualized Studies, where her focus is Management and Religious Studies.

Teiana Nakano

Teiana is a student at St. Olaf College studying Race & Ethnic Studies, Religion, and Education. She is passionate about racial justice and is excited to apply her education in Race & Ethnic Studies to helping job seekers at Daily Work. Teiana will begin her final year of undergrad in the fall, and hopes her exposure to the social work practice at Daily Work will help her determine post-grad plans. In her free time, Teiana enjoys playing the cello, singing, and spending time with friends and family.

Lee Olafson

Lee is currently volunteering at Daily Work as a web design/social media communications manager designing graphics and web media while helping with the routine maintenance of the Daily Work website to gain work experience in his career field. Ultimately, Lee plans to utilize his passion for art and design and his experiences at Daily Work to start up his own concept art and web graphic design business catering to small start-up and non-profit businesses helping with establishing their identity branding, online marketing and promotional needs.

April Pierce

April was originally from La Crosse, WI before moving up to the Twin Cities in 2014 to pursue a college education. She is currently working on her Bachelor’s degree in Communications at Concordia University. April has always been passionate about helping others, and she is excited to focus her passion into supporting the mission and values of Daily Work. After completing her degree she plans to pursue a Masters in Library Science and Information so that she can continue helping others in a variety of ways through the public library system.

Ye (July) Zheng

Ye (July) Zheng is a Social Work intern. She is completing a Master’ degree in social work at University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She is an international student from China. Her undergraduate background is also social work. She finished her bachelor degree at ZheJiang ShuRen University in China. She has many volunteer and human services experiences in China and U.S., such as being a new intern in civil affairs bureau for Chinese government and being a volunteer for teaching kids to read and write at Hope community in Minnesota. After coming to U.S., she found that she is interested in working with diverse population of clients who come from all over the world. She has a lot of passion to help people in a professional way. She loves the mission of Daily Work and looks forward to helping job seekers achieve their goals. In her leisure time, she likes reading, watching videos and dancing.
