How to Find a Job You Love

Have you ever noticed how easily conversations flow when you are talking to someone with whom you have a lot in common?  Start with people or companies with whom you have common interests and change your job search dramatically!

Instead of answering ‘now hiring’ ads, make a list of the things you that really interest you.  This could be causes, hobbies, interest areas, or abilities.  Then make a list of people or companies that you know have similar interests.  Contact these individuals or organizations and get to know them better.  When doing this, ask for their advice and share information about your employment goals.

If you get a personal meeting, ask for advice on your job search.  Get a recommendation for where to go next.  This will give you some warm leads and will be a lot more fun than online applications. There’s no need to be nervous.  You are talking to other people who are interested in the same things as you.  It will be fun, uplifting, and surprisingly fruitful to helping you gain employment doing something that you love!

Good Luck!
