Introducing the New Daily Work Case Managers

By: April Pierce, Communications & Web Services Intern

Daily Work is excited to welcome a new group of case management interns: Jensen Bloedorn, Josh Brooks, Leah Sonsalla, and Megan Toner joined us in early September and they will be with us until May 2019. They are now fully trained in their new roles and are meeting with job seekers. During the ebb and flow of interns and volunteers leaving and joining us, we fully appreciate how valuable they are to Daily Work.

Daily Work maximizes every dollar donated thanks to the hard work and dedication of our committed interns volunteers, who contribute almost 7,000 hours of their time every year to assist job seekers or help out in the Daily Work office. We’re fortunate to be based in Minnesota, where there are thousands of nonprofit organizations which provide opportunities for networking and collaboration for volunteers, interns and job seekers alike.

An estimated that 56 percent of nonprofits are based in the Twin Cities metro area, demonstrating that the financial and cultural needs of Minnesotans are evolving, and quickly. As a result, the need for volunteers from diverse backgrounds is also growing.

For example, Daily Work is interested in recruiting volunteers who speak Amharic and/or Oromo, the primary language(s) in Ethiopia and the birth home of most of our job seekers. There are many complex nuances in the world of work and interviewing and job seekers benefit from translation help to understand these more complicated concepts.

Daily Work shows appreciation for volunteers and interns by recognizing them on our blog, which we updated 1-2 times per week. All staff and volunteers are given the opportunity to showcase their passion for what they’re doing at Daily Work by writing a story for our blog.

They write about a variety of interesting topics including job seeker success stories, local resources, and social justice issues. Take note of what you enjoy reading about, as soon we will be sending out a very brief survey to collect your thoughts about how to improve our website and blog.

For more information about our new interns, visit our website at http://daily-work.org/about/interns-volunteers/ to read about their stories and experiences.

Daily Work is open to all. To learn more about our employment and mentoring services, call (651) 204-3043 or stop by our office at 105 University Avenue West, St. Paul, MN 55103.
