Personal Care Pacs
It’s the middle of winter in Minnesota and it is COLD. I never thought about the value of lotion until the Daily Work staff made personal care pacs for job-seekers. The number one request from men and women alike? Lotion!
Winters are hard on everyone and with extra dollars going towards the heating bills, a few necessary personal care products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand lotion, and body wash can save a few bucks for job seekers…and ensure they are fresh and ready for their next interview.
Daily Work interns and volunteers brainstormed on what to do with the donations from generous donors, often frequent travelers who accrue travel size items regularly. The personal care pacs fit the bill. Items in the pacs include travel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, toothpaste, tooth brush, deodorant and lip balm. We have bags for both men and women because men often want products with less scent.
Job seekers can take one hygiene bag per visit. There is also a bin where they can take miscellaneous items. The bags are a hit with job seekers; the majority take a bag as they leave! It is amazing how a simple gesture can really help someone out and make them feel cared about. “Zala” thanked us three times this morning when she left with her bag.
If you are looking to donate personal care items, please consider Daily Work. Our job seekers really value these necessary, but costly items. Items most desired are listed below, but other items are always welcome.
