Thanks to You – Two More Job Seekers Will Find Work
By Mari Jo Long, Daily Work Board Member
As a Daily Work board member and a member of the fundraising committee, Daily Work’s financial stability is often on my mind. While I sometimes feel uncomfortable asking my friends and family to support Daily Work, seeing and hearing about the many job seekers who are gaining better jobs inspires me to do all I can to support our vision of a community where everyone can work, grow, and thrive.
As a special bonus this year, I was excited to learn that my good friends Hannah and Jake won the raffle. As my only multi-ticket sale, it seemed fitting that they won. They couldn't be a more deserving couple; Hannah is a social worker and Jake a biology teacher. They are such kind and genuine people and do so much for their communities.
“We bought a raffle ticket because we support career education and Daily Work's mission. We really appreciate the hard work that is happening,” Jake said about purchasing the winning raffle ticket.
The game was a blast! Jake and Hannah filled the suite with friends and colleagues. We enjoyed a beautiful late summer day up in the suite as we watched the Twins hit their way to victory. Nothing is more exciting than watching home town hero Joe Mauer hit a grand slam against the Yankees!
Thank you to the Minnesota Ballpark Authority for donating the suite; we had a great evening! Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket, too. Your generosity generated nearly $3,000 and will provide two job seekers with the support and skills they require to get new jobs! Here are some other ways you can support Daily Work this year; have a fundraiser on Facebook, host a house party, or join a committee…or contact us about your own idea. No matter what you do, please know your support is helping people find jobs and become self-sufficient and we are grateful for your support.
