Worker Shortage? Daily Work Has a Different Experience.
The News About a Reluctant Workforce is Attention Grabbing.
For instance, the school bus driver shortage – supposedly proof that many people are rejecting good work opportunities. But often positions that are hard to fill, such as school bus drivers, are not year-round, require working split shifts, and/or cap hours to exempt employees from insurance and paid time off eligibility.
The reality: employment hyped as paying $20–$25 per hour might add up to only about $18,000 per year. Workers need to carry two or three jobs like these to rise out of poverty.

For folks in crisis, with fewer job skills, with no computer or internet, and/or still learning English, finding a path to sustainable employment is daunting. Yet with better connections, resources, and knowledge, work and financial success is possible.
We know because, for 20 years, job seekers have found the determination to break through with support from Daily Work. You can read just some of their stories on our Spotlights page.
