Just as we thought we were putting COVID behind us, the delta and omicron variants created another major threat to public health. If you are not yet vaccinated and boosted, I recommend that you get vaccinated as soon as possible in order to protect yourself, your family, and our community.
Over the past weeks, I have encountered many COVID cases around me, and this includes our job seekers and my friends. They have all been vaccinated, but two shots of vaccine do not guarantee that you will not contract the delta or omicron variants. Luckily, we have booster shots available now to strengthen our immunity. As per CDC guidelines, if you received Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, you can get the booster shot after six months of being fully vaccinated, and if you received Janssen vaccine, it is recommended that you get the booster shots two months afterwards.
Please take care of yourself and help us fight COVID together! At Daily Work, we are trying the best that we can to ensure that our office is a safe place for our job seekers. We ask everyone who comes into our office to be symptom free and have no COVID exposures in the past two weeks. Our job seekers are also actively trying to keep our office safe. One of our job seekers self reported to us that he had COVID a few weeks ago, so we switched his office appointment to a phone appointment. Therefore, you can rest assured that we can still provide services for our job seekers even if they have contracted COVID.
If you have travelled during the holiday season, now is probably the time that you return to your normal routine. I hope that you self-monitor your health – keep an eye out for any symptoms that you might have, and get tested if you have any symptoms or if someone with whom you have been in close contact informs you that they have contracted COVID. For getting tested getting a booster shot, Walgreens and CVS both provide free services and you can get scheduled on their website.
Happy New Year, and I hope that together we can leave COVID behind us in 2022.
