In recent weeks, increased ICE activity across the Twin Cities has created deep uncertainty within immigrant communities and communities of color in Minnesota. For many families, this uncertainty has made everyday activities such as going to work, sending children to school, grocery shopping, or running basic errands feel unsafe or impossible. These realities are impacting our neighbors, our coworkers, and members of the Daily Work community every day.
At Daily Work, we work closely with job seekers who are navigating these challenges while already facing barriers to employment and stability. In response, and in the spirit of mutual aid and collective care, Daily Work has launched a limited-time Direct Action Support Program for job seekers who are currently receiving services from Daily Work and are unable to leave their homes. This program is designed to provide immediate, practical support during a critical moment, while also affirming that our community deserves safety, dignity, and care.
How the Program Works
This program will operate responsively, with Daily Work regularly assessing community needs and adapting accordingly. While it does not currently include transportation to work or school, we are tracking these needs and exploring partnerships with other organizations that may be able to help fill those gaps.
How You Can Help
Community support is essential to making this program possible. There are several ways to get involved:
- Sign up to volunteer by filling out the Daily Work Direct Action Support Sign-Up Form, which includes details about grocery delivery, running errands, and other ways to help.
- Make a donation of food or household goods if you are unable to deliver groceries directly.
- Share this opportunity with people in your network who are looking for meaningful ways to support immigrant communities during this time.
Moments like these remind us how powerful community care can be. While the fear and uncertainty caused by ICE activity is real and ongoing, so is the solidarity we show one another. Daily Work is deeply grateful for the volunteers, donors, and community members who are stepping up to ensure that no one is left without support during this critical time. Together, we can provide comfort, dignity, and tangible assistance when it is needed most.
